Jerry Lewis has reached a tentative settlement with two entertainment companies in his lawsuit over a proposed remake of his 1961 movie "The Errand Boy" court documents show.
Lewis sued Spyglass Entertainment Group and Hollywood Pictures Corp. in August 2006, claiming he was owed money and alleging breach of contract and fraud. The lawsuit sought $2.3 million.
Lawyers involved in the case told Superior Court Judge Judith C. Chirlin that a tentative agreement was reached after both sides met with a mediator and settlement documents were being exchanged, according to a document dated Oct. 10.
Chirlin scheduled a Nov. 20 hearing for dismissal of the suit.
Terms of the settlement were not divulged, and calls to Lewis' attorney, Steven H. Blackman, and to Michael Anderson, a lawyer for Spyglass Entertainment and Hollywood Pictures, were not immediately returned Tuesday.
A screenplay was prepared for the new version of "The Errand Boy," according to the lawsuit, but the film wasn't made.
