This weekend is the New York Comic Con, so you can expect plenty more comic related news and coverage over the next few days. The official teaser trailer premieres tomorrow afternoon, but the teaser poster for Frank Miller's The Spirit has debuted courtesy of AICN. I was thinking about passing this up and just throwing it in the trailer announcement tomorrow, but when I took a closer look at it, I realized I couldn't do that. Something about this really captured me, and I think it's the classic look with the huge letters and so on. Take a look and make sure to come back tomorrow for the trailer!

It’s a film that’s been so “on again - off again” that it’s starting to resemble my love life. Ok, that’s more like “off again” more than anything else. But still… Justice League (the Superhero group based on all the big DC comics characters like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Geen Lantern, Flash… ect ect ect) is a film that looks like it could possibly be the most disasterous comic book film of all time. However, just before the strike it got put on hold and the internet movie community rejoiced like the Ewoks after the destruction of the second Death Star. Sadly though, after the WGA strike was over, word came out that the movie was back on track and moving forward once more. All the people wept. |

Probably not, is my guess. There is a rumor circulating the internet that someone overheard someone else saying that they have more free time now that Terminator 4 has shut down. This flick was set to star Sam Worthington and Christian Bale as crusaders for the human race battling the evil forces of SkyNet in the future. The kind of Terminator movie only alluded to in the past franchises. So any truth to the rumor? I would think that this is untrue. For one, it has McG on to direct, and while I don’t like McG, he makes money. It has Christian Bale attached - anything he is in will get people excited. |

Part of the charm of The Forbidden Kingdom is that, like so many of the foreign martial-arts films it emulates, the plot is a crazy quilt of random developments, bizarre characters, and absurd proclamations. It begins with a Boston kid being magically transported, for no good reason, to ancient China, where he sensibly exclaims, "I can't free the Monkey King! I gotta get home!" Any movie with a Monkey King is fine by me. The kid is named Jason, and he's played by Michael Angarano, who you might recognize as That Guy Who You Always Think Is Shia LeBeouf. (That's how I know him, anyway.) |

It brings me no joy to bash the eighth movie in a row; though I'm certain May will bring us at least a few solid flicks. The problem is I can't let this level of futility stand any more than I can let you spend ten hard earned dollars on this mess. The fact of the matter is that 88 Minutes hates you. If you have children it hates them too. Own a puppy? Guess what? 88 Minutes has no love for the puppy either. Painfully incoherent and bumbling, 88 Minutes is what you get when conjuring conflicts out of thin air seems way easier than going through the motions of telling an actual story. |
