Have you ever wondered about what celebrities would be if they weren’t famous? No matter what career we are all trying to pursue, we all (should) have a back up plan.(Even celebrities) Sometimes I wonder if celebrities have realized they have found their true calling by the roles some of them constantly pick. Sometimes, you may notice a striking quality in them, and just know where their paths would have lead if they hadn’t become actors. Since the moment Lionsgate announced that Frank Miller’s upcoming directorial work The Spirit, which is based on the classic comic by the great Will Eisner, was going to be released on January 16, 2009, I was perplexed. Following in the footsteps of Sin City and 300, The Spirit seems to be a very strong film. It has received solid buzz and a lot of excitement from fans of the comic-to-film genre, so why bury it with a January release? It appears as though Lionsgate has finally got the message, sliding The Spirit into the Christmas Day release slot that was recently vacated by J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot, which moved to May 8th. |

As you all know, honesty is my policy when it comes to movies. So to be completely honest, I would almost rather ignore the currently in production rehash of the Street Fighter franchise, but for some reason I feel like people are getting excited about it. As well, I have a sort of crush on actress Moon Bloodgood, who appears in the first image from the film above, so this is as good a time as any to start paying attention. Oh my god! Guillermo del Toro is going to direct The Hobbit! Which means we only have to wait a couple of years till we get more Lord of the Rings. I'm starting holding my breath ... now! Oh, okay, in the meantime, we've got some Tolkienesque knockoffs to keep us busy. Like the new Chronicles of Narnia flick, Prince Caspian, opening May 16. Sure, I'll be there for it. Even without seeing The Dark Knight, we’ve known for a while that a lot of the story is coming from the best Batman origin stories. Christopher Nolan and Heath Ledger both mentioned “The Killing Joke” as Joker inspiration, and the focus on Harvey Dent makes “The Long Halloween” an obvious choice for source material. Depending on how much of “Halloween” is covered in The Dark Knight, the third film could have the most depth of the series - exciting news considering the success of the series already. |
