TERMINATOR IV to be PG-13 PDF Print

Terminator 4
Going the same route as the terrible Live Free or Die Hard will be next year’s new Terminator movie which officially begins production today with the The Halcyon Co. aiming for a PG-13 classification.

Presumably the over $1 billion the first three R-RATED movies in the series made is not enough for them and there decision to shoot it in such a manner to appease and entice a kid friendly audience, is pretty sickening.

After it’s move from a hardcore, tough and adult action film series - the much tamer, boring and cartoon-ish last installment of the Die Hard series ended up being the highest grossing

How To (And Not To) Pick A DVD With Your Girlfriend PDF Print

Picking DVD's
We’ve all been in this situation, and we’ve all seen thousands of others in the same predicament. It’s a Thursday night, you and your girlfriend decide to run to Blockbuster or something like that to grab a DVD you don’t currently have at home already because you’re in the mood for something else. Not sure what else… just something else. You get to the video store, naively thinking it’ll just take you a couple of minutes to grab something, and before you know it you’ve been there over a half hour and you’re no closer to picking out something you both want to see than you were when you first walked in.

Just last night I went to a video store to grab a copy of Ben Hur (just after hearing about the passing of Charlton Heston).

Giant Hulk Statue Invades Theaters Everywhere! PDF Print

The Incredible Hulk
If you went to see Iron Man this weekend, it's very likely you saw the new "life size" Hulk statue sitting in the lobby somewhere. I always admire (and critique) the in-theater marketing efforts that the studios send out, and this time this one is worth mentioning. Like The Simpsons Movie couch and Silver Surfer statue last year, this is becoming the "talk of the town," at least when it comes to marketing material. The statue is for this summer's upcoming Incredible Hulk movie. I suppose Universal thought the best way to get people to realize there was a Hulk movie was to literally put a giant Hulk statue right in the lobby of every movie theater. And I suppose it worked, but I still don't know if the movie is going do too well.

J.J. Abrams Shares Details on How Unexpected Star Trek Will Be Next Summer! PDF Print

J.J. Abrams
The trend in movie news this week seems to be discussion on next year's summer line-up. One of the many blockbusters in the works is J.J. Abrams' Star Trek - a modernized re-envisioning of the classic sci-fi series. Abrams is admittedly not the biggest fan of Star Trek, so why exactly did he take on this project? "It was an opportunity to take what I think has been a maligned world — to sound crass, a franchise — and treat it in a way that made it something that I wanted to see." The Associated Press recently talked with Abrams about the film and what we can expect next summer. If you're not convinced about Star Trek just yet, then how about this: "The whole point was to try to make this movie for fans of movies, not fans of Star Trek, necessarily."

Review: Son of Rambow Is Much Funnier Than Rambo PDF Print

Son of Rambow is filled with small surprises and treasures, a veritable bounty of delight. It perfectly captures the innocent, whimsical joys of boyhood, and it does this in the simplest possible way: by being innocent and whimsical itself. When the characters in the movie grow up, I bet they'll make a film just like this one.

The boys, both about 12 and living in England circa 1983, are as different as can be. Will Proudfoot (Bill Milner) is skinny and timid, obedient to his widowed mother (Jessica Stevenson) and restricted from watching TV or movies by the family's membership in the no-frills Plymouth Brethren sect. The other lad, Lee Carter (Will Poulter), is a broad-faced bully and mischief-maker.

Nah, A Grand Theft Auto Game Wouldn't Work PDF Print

Grand Theft Auto
Grand Theft Auto IV is already a huge hit in stores and I know that, as I write this, a Hollywood exec is eyeing those sales. It won't be long before a lightbulb, small and dull as it may be, lights up over his head. Wait a darn minute ... we could make a movie out of that thing!

To that I say not so fast, flunky. On the surface a Grand Theft Auto movie might sound like a good idea, but the truth is what makes the game great has nothing to do really with its story. It has to do with the game's attitude, its raciness and humor.
