Review: Deception Has Decent Sex Scenes But Not Much Else PDF Print

Deception
Ewan McGregor. Hugh Jackman. Michelle Williams from Dawson's Creek. The names roll off the tongue right? Then I mention that the film involves an anonymous sex club and it truly feels like something you might be interested in. Unfortunately it also involves a few silly and telegraphed blackmail angles, and stilted dialogue strong enough to kill a yak at 30 paces (or whatever the legal yak killing yardage is these days). So it ends up in a big goopy mess, as if you'd combined egg yolks with jello.

The first issue is the title. Deception. Ah yes, so that, plus the weird look in everyone's eyes, means I need to perk up and pay attention because ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN.

The Dark Knight
If you live in Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, New York, Kansas City, Toronto, San Francisco, or London you will want to read this. On Thursday night we debuted the kick ass new poster for The Dark Knight as part of the on-going viral marketing game. The website where it was discovered was located at whysoserious.com/itsallpartoftheplan/. However, the site hinted that more would be coming and now its been updated. A new viral hunt will take place on Monday, April 28th in those cities mentioned above and this time I know you'll want to get involved. I'll bet anyone $10 that they'll end up at a movie theater in the area where you'll be shown the brand new trailer (or even more?) in its entirety. Why do I think that? Read on…

Is James Bond’s Quantum of Solace Cursed? PDF Print

James Bond: Quantum of Solace
The past week hasn’t been a good one for drivers on the set of the new James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace. Three different drivers have been injured in different accidents, including one by a guy who was just delivering an Aston Martin DBS to the set. He lost control of the vehicle and drove into a lake… and he was an employee of Aston Marton. Whoops.

All kidding aside, we hope they start paying attention to safety on set, because the most recent accident landed a stuntman in a hospital in serious condition when the Alfa Romeo he was driving collided with another vehicle.

Five Reasons We Love Hugh Jackman PDF Print

Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman is back this weekend in the new super thriller Deception , co-starring alongside the adorable and talented Michelle Williams and Ewan McGregor. Jackman is certainly a household name these days; it’s interesting to think that landing the role of Wolverine in the X-Men franchise was probably his first major on-screen break in the United States. Of course, this statement doesn’t shed light upon the wide variety of shining credits his resume sparkles with. The man is talented and in more than a few ways. I’m pretty curious about his upcoming flick and have high hopes considering the heavy weights in the lineup.

Review: Baby Mama Is Tina 'n Amy's Show PDF Print

Baby Mama
If we cannot agree that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are two of the funniest women in television, then we have nothing to say to each other. But I know there are people who hate them, who think they ruined Saturday Night Live, who automatically despise any sketch in which Poehler (who's still on the show) appears, and who refuse to watch 30 Rock (which Fey created and stars in). I am puzzled by these people, but hey, to each his own.

The haters won't bother seeing Baby Mama, of course, nor should they.

Review: Harold and Kumar Make One Trip Too Many PDF Print

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay
While Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay isn’t the worst, most insipid thing I’ve seen this year, it certainly is the most disappointing. I loved the first film. While juvenile, lowbrow and occasionally tasteless, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle was funny. Very funny. It took the magic that worked in the old Cheech and Chong movies and dressed it up for a whole new generation. Silly, outrageous and at times utterly ridiculous, at its heart the film was playing upon the inherent racism not just prevalent in white culture, but in all colors and creeds. It made fun of EVERYONE. White, black, yellow, brown –- Harold and Kumar didn’t care. The movie went for it. Even the advertising made fun of itself, proudly proclaiming that it was “Starring that Indian Guy from Van Wilder and the Asian guy from American Pie.”
