The 1992 original starred Harvey Keitel as a junkie, gambler, cop who investigates an attack on a nun. It was slapped with an NC-17 rating for its brutal images.
This is going to be the craziest film ever.
Werner Herzog is this eccentric German filmmaker who recently started making slightly more mainstream movies starring Hollywood actors. His Rescue Dawn with Christian Bale was one of the most overlooked movies of last year. To settle a bet once, Herzog ate his shoe. During an interview he was shot by a sniper and continued the interview, saying it wasn’t a “significant bullet.”
Nicolas Cage is a strange dude too. In order to avoid the assumption that he became famous from his uncle, Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather), he changed his last name to Cage after the comic book character Luke Cage. He was such a fan of Elvis Presley, he ended up marrying his daughter Lisa Marie for four months. Then he named his kid Kal-El after the real name of Superman from the movies/comics.
Two very weird guys working together on a brutal crime drama? Yeah, I’m in.
